About Union Vale:

The region was originally part of the Beekman Patent. The town was first settled around 1716. The town was formed in 1827 from the Towns of Beekman and LaGrange.

According to the United States Census Bureau the town has a total area of 37.8 square miles of which 37.7 square miles of it is land and 0.1 square miles of it is water.
